Walk to School week May 2012

Despite a wet start on Monday, the children enjoyed walk to school week with the help of Alf.

Our Junior Road Safety Officers started their campaign by giving an assembly the Friday before to encourage children to walk to school raising awareness of carbon omissions, healthy living and road safety.

Each day the children were greeted by Alf and they had to guess which member of staff was hiding inside.  Alf was very busy, dancing, practising Karate, riding a bike and trying to whizz off on somebody's scooter.  The number of children walking increased each day as the week went on with stickers, healthy snacks and badges being given out as incentives.

We hope the good work carried out this week encourages more people to walk to school in the future,

Bernadette Freed
